Didn't wanna muck up the other thread, but would you rather have an Angus bull on Beefmaster cows, or Beefmaster bull on Angus cows, and why?

I always want an English bull over Brahman or there composites.
The American Brahman association data will tell you the same thing.

. Hard to beat a beefmaster cow(especially where your at)'for mothering and milking... The right bull on them and you'll knock a home run

I think every commercial cow below I-40 should be 1/4 to 1/2 Brahman influenced. The 1/4 bloods from I-40 down to about the Red River (close to US 82) and below there a 3/8 to 1/2 blood cow is needed.

Well, I would like to introduce some Beefmaster genetics into my herd, but I ain't gonna get rid of all my cows and start over, I have a very young herd of Angus, Semi Angus, and a few Herefords. Calm, gentle, good genetics, well raised, and I'm keepin em.

You can put a Beefmaster bull on them with out any problems. Just look for a bull with a lower BW. Any thing less than #80 should work.

If your wanting to put a little brimmer and a lot of growth on your calves Brangus would be the ticket IMO.

I have first hand experience with both Angus over Beefmaster and Angus over Brangus. Both make great animals. Visually you may get more white markings with the Beefmaster. From a performance stand point you can't go wrong with either if you buy good quality animals. The Brangus over Angus will be a cleaner animal and probably more appealing to buyers. You will have to shop hard to purposely get a clean Beefmaster.

No favorites here. I like both Beefmaster and Brangus.

Personally I would shop both and see what catches your eye. Look for the best quality bull at the right price.

Since you already got the cows go with Beefmaster bull. I would go with foundation bloodlines a lot of them are cleaner than some of this other stuff. A lot of Beefmaster are really gentle. If you were closer to Texas I could recommend a few places to find good bulls but I don't know anything over where you are. I love my Beefmasters.

Secondly that is bass ackwards again the American Brahman Association will tell you not to do it that way to avoid unnecessary problems.

So what's the purpose of leaving a full Brahman calf a bull?
