Always though of him as one of those good ole boys, but sure changed by mind after seeing him on those tv ads promotings a very controversial topic. wonder if he believes that or money influenced him. i have never been as judgemental as i am now. the last 2 years has sure changed me.

You mean the one where he's talking about the "new health program" will give senior citizens free checkups, and all the other BS??Not to mention cutting down on corruption in Medicare??

I was disappointed myself. The issue has pros and cons. Andy is a "brand" and as a brand he has never touched any controversy, has he?
If he believes it, I support him saying that out loud. Sadly, the choice to do this spot puts him down a notch on my credibility meter.

I reckon it's a "paid" appearance.

Andy Griffith is an ACTOR, they get paid to ACT.

I was very sad to see Andy doing those commercials. He is so overacting that he looks almost senile as he is saying them at the end. It is sad to think he is so far gone that he really believes what he is saying. But, even more sad to think that he simply sold out for the dollars he is getting paid to promote the stuff. Either way, I guess I will never watch the Andy Griffith show thinking the same way I used to.

Actually Andy has been very active in recent years supporting Democrats in North Carolina elections. He is very much a political activist. He is not acting, he is supporting the dems get out the vote activities with taxpayer money

Actors get paid to act. True enough. But nobody makes them take a particular job.

I have taped a lot of Barney and Andy's TV shows and think that was one of the best TV shows ever made.
I will just have to remember them as they appeared on the show. If he developed "problems" later, I'll just have to ignore that part. He just lost his bearings. Who knows why?

Don Knotts went a little screwy too with some of the roles he later played. But the Mayberry TV show Barney and Andy were OK people.

Man, I saw one of those ads the other day, or something he was pitching for. I can't remember the message cause I could NOT get over how he looks. So frail and puffy.

I saw a movie last weekend called "Daddy And Them", with Billy Bob Thorton. He was just great. Not Mayberry at all. Freakin funny. It was on IFC.

Old Andy's pretty darned funny in this one. Kinda like redneck Matlock out shooting guns in the pasture.

Well I reckon that's what he's doing. Learned it from watching congress on C-Span. :lol2:
