I believe the Highlands are more of a northern European breed, while the Texas Longhorn though it's been in the Americas for some 500 years is of Spanish descent. I know folks who ride the Scottish Highland. With their shaggy coats, long horns and pleasant dispositon, they are a beautiful breed.

In the cold wilds of Scotland those animals need all that hair, I always thought they looked funky.
