I have a John Wayne commemorative Model 94 in 32-40 that has been locked in a gun safe since the day it was bought.
The rifle has spent over 30 years in solitary confinement since 1981, seems a shame not to display such a beautiful gun.
Was think of having a glass case built and displaying it above the mantel.
Am I nuts (TB no response necessary) I will never shoot the rifle it is still unfired just as the day it was bought.

I have John Wayne commemorative model 94 in 30-30. And I have killed a few deer with it. Might just have to drag it out and shoot a couple more this year with it. I would worry about a crack head or some other deadbeat stealing it if they could see it.

If it unfired I would leave it that way for sure. But I think the best bet is to just send it to VA. I would give you your money back plus a little interest.

I bet you would it cost 995.00 in 1981.
Never been fired never had a round in the magazine.
I have worried about a crack head as High Grit mentioned.

I have one box of commemorative ammo, you are not going to find 32-40 anymore.
It is considered an obsolete cartridge.
I could make some brass by re-sizing 30-30 or 38-55.

After reading some recent post about people opening gates, and the concerns some of you face about theives, I feel very fortunate. I don't even know where the keys to my house are. Hasn't been locked since we built it and moved in 2000. I don't even have a "key ring". The ignition key alone stay in the trucks (thats why I accidentally locked myself out a few weeks ago :D ). I have one key I carry in my billfold, and that is for work.
I would display it. Send it to me. I'll build the glass case for you, display in my office at work along with a few others. Don't worry, I won't even chamber a round. I'll send you pictures every Christmas

CB I refuse to allow you to discriminate against me in a public forum. We're talking about "rights" here son. ;-) Heck yeah I'd display it. If you gonna keep it hid you might as well not even own it.

I bet you even make the news people calling in wondering what they are seeing.
You get a load of buckshot in the ass and them pink chaps and cowboy hat get to flappin as you are running through these sawbrair's squalling like a pee waddling dog. Some of these hillbillies will be on the news in there cut off bib overall's and Moo Moo's describing the scene, as you are headed north to safety in Oklahoma .

Gotcha scratch the shooting it. get a museum bulletproof display case and display it.

I guess you could display it. I have Wells Fargo,Theodore rosevelt, and bill codey model 94's all with the boxes 2 never fired, but I have killed some deer with the bill codey.

I had a couple Canadian Centennial's with consecutive serial numbers the carbine and rifle I gave one to each son.
For hunting I prefer the Marlin 1894 in 44 mag.

That 1894 marlin 44 mag is exactly what I killed 2 of my 4 deer with last year, and alot more over the last 12 years that I have had it. They are a great little lever gun IMO.
