how many tons of alfalfa silage could I expect from an acre of ground? The ground is non irrigated. The soil is clay but due to slope no water pools. This ground will raise 125-160 bushels of corn most years.

Depends how much moisture you want in your haylage. And also how often you plan on cutting it for haylage. Last year the average yield per acre for me was 3.7 tons for the year. Always under 15% moisture. It was dry here last season usually it is closer to 5 tons per acre for the year. Our heavy dew and summer humidity makes for horrible alfalfa crops some times.
