seeing all the new calves makes season worth it.i feel for those of you that calve in rough cold weather.i know its alot of hard work.
 
I wish it was mud here (well not really) at least it would be warmer!! -15 overnight, 4 calves but they were all in the barn.

BB, it is a bit of work, but so worth it when you see all those new babies bouncing around. I love it when you go in the barn and there is one that just got his feet under him and he is trying to bounce around the stall....
 
I was always told a solid fence for the best wind break, and provide gaps to catch more snow.
What is your favorite construction - - height, gap, board width?
Have you every tried U bolting boards onto portable corral panels?

Hmm...Portable and Windbreak in the same sentence.......sort of brings "Here, hold my beer and watch this" to mind. :shock: :lol:
 
Had a calf yesterday that discovered he could get into our temporary straw pit. Set himself down in an open bale and refused to move even when hubby went to get some straw.
I finally had to kick him out because the cow was trying to get him to get up and nurse, but he was too happy with his bed. :lol2:
