I want to add something to block the cattle's view out from my sweep and alleyway when I'm running them through. What have you guys come up with to do the same? The only thing coming to mind is using plywood sheets.

That would work. Just be careful. Cattle manure eats tin roofing pretty quick. Those rusted out sharp edges can cut a strs leg up really bad.

I use a material that is used in pulp mills call drier felt. It looks like canvas but it has metal strands woven into it. Lasts for ever. Cut it to size and zip tie to the outside. It is fairly heavy and kind of a pain to work with but once it is up it lasts for ever.

We have a product called "polybelt". http://www.polybelt.com.au/
I have had it up in my yards now for about 12 years and is not showing any signs of deteriorating. I have it screwed to pipe with self tapping metal screws and washers.
I am sure you would have a similar product there.

Wish that was offered in the States. Exactly what I'm looking for.

Just thinking, weed barrier fabric would work too. That's what I'll try.

I've tried weed fabric. Does work. Goes up fast (I stapled to wood). Probably won't last. Even though mine was covered the wind did mine in.

Since that experiment I've generally used thin OSB board. It's flexible enough to bend onto curves. Wind doesn't bother.

I will also add -- I've had to drill some holes in panels to allow for some light so that cattle can better see the opening/exit direction I want them to move.

Search for plastic panels. There are tons of different materials that are lightweight and easy to handle. The question will be how expensive is the material. This site has tons of options.

Also, you can search for poly panels and there are a lot of options.

If you are going the weed barrier route, you might consider roofing felt. It will probably be more durable.

Sold by none other than mr farmer....

Rubber conveyor belt works good. We got a bunch from a rock quarry, and my uncle works at large grain plant. We use self tapping screws that you use to hang metal siding

I've seen the stuff in the link used on scaffolding for 6 months and when taken down it still looks new. Thought about trying it on the tub and as a wind block in the summer for the sick pen. It has some special bungee cord deals to hang it with that are reusable as well.

Lowes has these sheets that look like tin but are plastic. I've been wanting to get a few to put in certain places.

I'll look into those. Looks like a good possibility.

Found this at Menards. I'm heading there tomorrow, I'll see if they have any in stock.
