Accident

Well, when I was in Houston the other day for my doctors appt. at the V.A., I got a message on my cell phone from my wife, who was was back in Flatonia. It was a panicked call to say the least. Then I got another message right after that that was just as panicky. It said, "Dick, call me immediately, I just got into an accident in your truck". I called and after I found out she was allright, I asked what exactly had happened. Well, she was coming down our dirt rd. and had come up to a spot where it narrows because of where the county had place a crossing for a stream that goes across the rd. They also had placed, on each side of the rd, 2 concrete barriers. I guess you can guess from here what happened. She hit one and it ripped off the wheal, ball joints, and tie rods right off the truck. It also bent the frame in 3 different places and crinkled the cab at the passenger side door. Bent my tool box in to. Both air bags deployed and when that happened, my wifes right arm got a pretty good bruise from her wrist to her elbow, jammed her left thumb pretty good. She was belted in, as always, so that was very good.

Well, we had it towed to Randall Rileys in Basthrop, and the next day we went to check it out and the shop manager said, in his opinion, it was a total loss. We are now waiting on the adjuster to check it out and we will will wait and see.

By the way, it WAS a 2004 Dodge 2500 PU.

Sorry for the loss of the truck.

I'm sure you've heard this too many times, but as long as the wife's o.k., material things can be replaced. Thank God she's o.k.

Now you can focus on buying a new truck!

Well Dick - schitzen happens to the best of us. You got your priorities straight - she was not hurt bad - truck can always be replaced.

That is a shame though about your truck. I am glad your wife is OK though, that's something to be thankful for.

Dick, good you asked about the wife first.
If I'd have done that it would have been assumed that I was fine because I was able to call. The the yelling would have started. Then I would have been asked "How darned fast were you driving to do that much damage?"

Sorry for your loss...I figure that if she can call me then she's all right...always ask anyway, not that Susie has accidents on a regular basis.

Ya' know Beefy this house I live in is full of women. I am about to jinx myself, but to date all the accidents have been from them. Two or three on the truck and a couple on the car.

A few just from typical farm ramming through mud and such with loads that are too big.

In the end it is just a pile of tin, steel, rubber and some moving parts. I have never raised my voice at any of the girls when they smack something - just part of the cost of dealing with folks who work hard and demand possibly too much from their vehicles.

I figure as long as they are not hurt I can fix darned near anything - or just replace it. In the end I am just very grateful that they will pitch in and help me when they can.

Can't wait for my oldest daughter to see your comment. Glad you are not here - she is a bit of a spitfire at times.

Then again it might be fun to watch. :lol:
