I have a heifer who lost her calf really close to when she was supposed to have it...she was way bagged up and everything...(we never found the calf). So we brought her in and grafted a sale barn calf onto her (with some difficulty :D ). That was about a month ago, now that her udder is consistently smaller we noticed that her stomach- just in front of her udder- didn't look quite right. So we put her in the squeeze chute and felt it. It feels like a bag of water hanging there- about the size and shape of half of a football...her skin is not taut. It isn't hot to the touch, it is very tender, just feels like water inside...

what should I do :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

does anyone know what this might be?

she is still eating and acting normal.

:help:

What breed is she? some just keep a lot of extra swelling for a long time after calving.

If the milk from all quarters looks normal I'd probably just leave her be.

She is a gelbvieh cross. We have two of her herd mates and they didn't look this way. She has milk in all quarters and it is fine. The swelling is in front of the udder. Thanks! :cboy:
