A scope for my 308

I just bought a new Mossberg 308 bolt action patrol rifle. I would like to get a scope for it that is plain,simple, durable, and affordable. I don’t deer hunt much , but I mostly like seeing how far away that I can hit something. Please include the average cost in your answers. This is my rifle.

Bushnell if you don't want to spend much at all (~75 dollars), Nikon for a little more (~100), and then what's already been said.

Have a Bushnell trophy on an AR that took a fall hard enough to put a dent in the scope, but was still dead on.

I went and bought a Vortex Diamondback scope. This is after 18 shots (6 3 shot groups) at 25yards/75 feet.

There scopes must be better then their binocs. Got a new pair a couple of years ago and they just never were clear and got horrible headaches with them.
