you and your family have got a great operation no doubt..... but wont that bidding deal come back to bite you eventually? if buyer's stop bidding against ya'll for running the price up a few cents it could hurt your reputation before long ... i mean 1.22 to 1.23 aint shabby .. but i do appreciate the fact you go the extra mile you wont see many, if any do it.
 
It is called a buy-back program, but we don't actually buy them back. We never owned them in the first place. Our customers buy our bulls and we then try to buy their calves.

The steer calves we get bought go to several places. If we buy them for ourselves, they go to either a local feedlot and get backgrounded and then later sent onto to a finish lot in NE. Or they go to a couple different lots in NE that feed them all the way through.

The rest of the steer calves we buy are for feedlots or order buyers from around the country, they are then sent to whatever lot the buyer uses and ussually fed all the way out.

The replacement heifers that are purchased by us are bred and put into our Fall bull sale as commercial bred heifers. Or we have orders from ranchers who either want to make cows for their own herd or sell bred heifers as well.

We are always looking for buyers for the steers and heifers, that is the toughest part of the whole deal. It takes alot of money to buy and feed a whole load of calves.

I am off to the Watertown sale barn. We have a customer selling a couple groups today. Hopefully this high corn market don't hurt them to bad today.
 
Well the sale I went to yesterday was down quite a bit due to the price of corn, but the customers we went to help did pretty good for the day. Here are their prices.

71 head steers - 812 lbs - $93.70
36 replacement quality heifers - 706 lbs - $100.20

Their were some more feeder heifers but I didn't right it down. They actually topped the market in their weights for both steers and heifers. A pretty good day for them.
