Congrats to you both! She's perfect.
I feel that was they type of judge that we had at our county fair. He might've looked for functionality to some degree but I feel the clubby type was more what he was looking for, even with heifers."Most" of my show cattle are slick. My 2-yr old cow is shiny slick haired (won Supreme & Res Supreme) - our bull calf is absolutely BALD (won Supreme Bull at every outing). The only time we have to worry about having "hair" is if the fair hires a "clubby" judge. Then, yes, they are judging HAIR and how well the exhibitor can FIT the hair.
Yes, most fairs hire a clubby judge to judge the steers. Many times "those" judges are judging hair & fitting a bit more than anyone should!I feel that was they type of judge that we had at our county fair. This is a small fair, same judge for all classes of beef cattle.Yes, most fairs hire a clubby judge to judge the steers. Many times "those" judges are judging hair & fitting a bit more than anyone should!
Yup - that's a killer. "SOME" judges can switch over and judge what is actually presented to them for what they are supposed to be developed into. Some - not so much. We go to shows that have breeding and jackpot classes. We enter both (with a couple calves). Many of the judges we have shown under can wear both pants and aren't "fooled" by hair. This is a small fair, same judge for all classes of beef cattle.
