Heifer dropped a black slimey one about 8pm here, kinda looks like your second pic. Except it's about 20F and steadily falling. Calf is not a happy camper.

Thanks for posting that cfpinz. I have seven due any minute now and I feel better knowing I'm not the only one having February calves. We're heading into the worst weather we've had all winter and I'm really worried. Keep us posted on how the calf does with the lousy weather were expecting later in the week.

This heifer was late, all of her group other than her finished up a month ago. Don't have any trouble with the cold or snow, but sleet and freezing rain really takes its toll on them.

Will they be calving outdoors? I have two due 2/1, one due 2/5, the other four between 2/11 and 2/15. All heifers so the ten day rule is in effect. I've lost one already that came 6 weeks early. Folks tell me that cows do have calves that live but I've yet to prove it.

:shock: The wind chill here this am was minus 8. I have
a couple ready to tuck in the barn. Most of ours will calve
in march. The heifers the last of march and first of april. :)

hasbeen I had 2 calves born around christmas and the rest have been born in january sometimes in the teens at night. All the calves are fine. I have had 27 born in 33 days. Thats some breeding by a yearling bull. Had 2 born this am.

That's encouraging, our weather is generally very similar to yours. This Thursday is what has me worried. Wind, cold, possibly freezing rain. I think they'll be ok if they can get dry. Sure hope they can do it without any help.
