A great weekend in the outdoors

We had our annual Hope Outdoors hunt Friday and Saturday and it was great. Here are a few pictures.

We had 13 handicaped or ill hunters who came and all but one got a deer and a few young men got a chance to go squirrel hunting.

No he's no fighter pilot hook, he's never been off the ground in anything but a treestand. He's bad news on a turkey though. He has those dogs and loves taking kids squirrel hunting.

It's something I enjoy doing very much. I usually feel guilty after an event because I always feel that I get more out of it than our hunters do. We try hard to make it about more than the hunt. The hunt is only a means to become friends with our participants. We try our best to make them feel normal and make them feel like they are just another one of the guys. I am sure that they always touch me more than I touch them. It's a pure joy.

We had our yearly Christmas party at the church for children from a home for abused children.
When they first come in all you see is sad kids then you see pure joy when they find out the party is for them.
Maybe for a couple of hours they get to forget their troubles and be kids.

It a way more fun to me to take young one a hunting than go myself. The best days i have had this year was with the grandson.
