First time this has happened to me. I was calling in cattle today with the siren and a wild boar about 250 lbs came in with them.I knew they ate along beside each other from several pictures on the trail cam,but this is my first time to see them come in to cubes with the cattle.Maybe he tyhought he was a cow. But I changed his way of thinking. Shot him in the ear at about 90yds with a 308- 180 gr
soft point. He dropped in his tracks. :lol:

Naw them size boars are just a little too strong tasting for me. Had it been a sow I would have at least cut out the tenderloins and back strap.

They'll also jump into the fence and shear off posts too. Makes you wish they could see better.

No joke about tearing up fence. I had a pack that had been rooting up the yard, so I put a 16 gauge loaded with buckshot by the front door. Ole Rube told me they were out there so I eased the door open, there was about 25 in the yard. Well I touched the old model 12 off on a big boar. That was fine and dandy but the other 24 hit the fence on the other side of the driveway, looked like an explosion in a steel wool factory. Took me a week to fix the fence and clean up the mess. I had no idea you could bend t post like they did or tie barb wire up like they did.

I showed them.
After i finished fixing the fence I came to the conclusion it was easier to haul dirt, if they had just stayed out of the flowerbed.

I had a severe case after that week and that pack is no longer with us.

Since about everyone uses sirens on their trucks to call in cattle around my parts I'm thinking maybe the hogs are associating this with the cattle cubes like the cattle do.
You think maybe in the near future we can just pull into the field,blow our siren,call up hogs and just start shooting?
Maybe that I'm just dreaming. :) :)

Jo you can take this for what it's worth but a couple years ago I ran onto a group of hogs and shot at one at about 150 yards with my 22 hornet.I put the crosshair on the bottom of his ear and fired,He ran into the woods.I went searching for him and found him graveyard dead about 20 yards from where I shot him.I always take a shot just at the bottom of the ear or between the eyes if they are facing me. works for me.

Something I might mention. I have a friend who traps and sells hogs.Since the wont take any less than 50 lbs,he leaves those in the traps and calls me and three other guys. We turn them loose and we are lined up and let them get about 50yds from us and then all heii brakes loose. Talking about some good moving target practice. Just seems more fun that a man's allowed. :lol: :lol:
