Thought I’d share a little drive through the pairs from this morning. I treated a calf for navel infection. Not convinced it is infected, but it’s pretty large and I can’t catch it to investigate. You might notice the dart hanging out of it.

Thank you. They are all fairly high percentage Simmental. Still mutts though as there are no fullbloods.

i keep re-watching your video and notice how warm it seems (as if i can ascertain temperature from a video.)
was just wondering what the winter weather is usually for your area. i don't know how close you are to spokane, i have an offspring who lived there for awhile several years ago. said the weather in spokane was not bad, just gloomy.
by the way i think the dog has a good melody. i liked it.

Thanks, I'll pass your compliment along to the dog. Should help his mood, he's been impossible to live with since @Ouachita hurt his feelings.
As far as temperature goes, it was. Ice beer drinking weather when I took the video, about 60F with a lot of radiant heat from the sun making it feel very nice. We are on the East side of the mountains so definitely not a gloomy place, humidity is generally fairly low, not much precipitation. I measured on Google earth and we are 650 miles north of Spokane USA

I’m sorry. Of the videos I’ve watched, you often have good music in the background. I probably had my expectations set too high before I clicked to watch. Also, having been recently tripped by my dog doesn’t help my normally endearing attitude toward his kind.

I am often intrigued and inspired by most of you that post here, but especially those from the northern latitudes.
My head count of momma's on the place has varied from a high of 44 head in 2014, to a low of 15 momma's now. I have plans to grow the herd.
I think the most I could ever run continuously would be about 35-40 momma cows, but even that wouldn't compare to the effort you guys and gals up north put in to caring for, and carrying them through the winter.
Y'all have the most of admiration I could ever offer………or maybe you're summertime is easier?

What kinds of medication do you use in Canada? Can you get Draxxin? Have you ever used Baycox? I read about it but doesn’t look like we can get it in the US. I wouldn’t mind having some on hand.

i appreciate being corrected. i believe it was seattle. think they mentioned it was a near straight shot north up (maybe i 5) to canada.
sorry, that part of the country is just foreign to me, literally, and i never visited them there. thanks.

We have used Baycox here (Toltrazuril), I do understand it’s not available to use in the US. I gave it in pill form at birth when I was using it. I quit using it a couple of years ago when I started feeding mineral with an ionophore in it. At which time I began giving Nasalgen 3 PMH at birth.
I do use Draxxin, Nuflor, Resflor, Borgal, Trimodox, Excede, etc as circumstances dictate. Metacam is a go to for many conditions as well for its anti inflammatory effects. Not sure if you can get that down there yet.
