IMO Reagan Era military spending was for a good cause as it broke the back of the U.S.S.R.
trying to compete with it, leading to the collapse of communism and freeing Eastern Europe.

Actually it just sped up the inevitable as any communist system is doomed to failure from the git go
the only question is time.

Do you think that Putin and the Chinese are using the same playbook to keep us spending on military might. They are always announcing a new weapon that is more deadly or faster than anything we have. Do we spend to much trying to police the world?
I think there would be ways to cut spending. There are warehouses storing parts that are for obsolete equipment. Why do we need new equipment when the equipment is the state of the art when compered to other nations.

I'd rather have our troops in state of the art equipment, than provide cell phones, food and housing to the deadbeats and freeloaders.
