A&A and B&B scales?

Are these 2 companies ran or owned by the same company? I have a set of the weigh bar setup that I would take $500 for if anyone is interested. Had about a year. They are spot on as far as weight wise, just not ideal with my setup and having to move the chute from farm to farm more often than we figured. Anyways, if anyone interested let me know. I'll possibly help with some shipping as well. The cable is a little rusty from rain, but the plug tip has always been covered so no harm to it. I will be looking for a lane platform scale and saw the A&A scales, but didn't know what anyone thought about them for being able to transport. Thanks.

Hard to tell with so many drop shippers around. The alley scale that A&A has looks very similar to B & B's under the Prime name except Prime's is red. I just bought the alley scale from Prime it weighs in at about 300 lbs. It has a 5 year warranty on the scale and 1 year on the electronics. Used scales are hard to find. You might try advertising them at the sale barn and craigslist.

Why not have a platform built for yours?

The weigh bars from them sit way to high for the alley that i have space for and also they are too wide for that space. My alley is only 26"

Also, will the platform 20" scale fit inside a priefert s04 chute?

I could be wrong but I believe the platform you are looking at is intended for the alley just before the chute. The SO4: Inside Width: 24” at the Belly Pipe. You would have to measure at floor level or give Priefert a call to see if that platform would fit. Keep in mind though that you might have to drag those scales out of the chute to work cows, calves and bulls so you can adjust the chute width as needed. That platform would be in the way and limit your ability to adjust the width.

I will be using an 8 foot alley section just before the chute, for my scales of a similar design. Most of the weigh bars (with no platform) are intended to go under the chute but I have seen people build platforms for them to put in an alley.

I have been buying scales from A an A scales and they are doing fine. you sometimes can find the same scale on Ebay for less.

Are the platform ones from a&a waterproof ect? Can leave outside or need to take them in everytime? The ones i am looking at weighs up to 2k pounds and weighs 60-100# itself. And is 20"wide. I think it will fit and keep the chute in the cow slot on the floor. I need to measure next time I'm by my chute, unless someone is closer to theirs and has a measurement of the floor with the adjustment in diff slots.

The A & A guys are in Jersey and are easy to work with. The B & B dude is out by El Paso. I had trouble with his product and he would not return my emails. They all use the same Chinese components. There is also a seller on Ebay that is very knowledgeable and will answer your email questions quickly. I don't think I would try and put a platform in a chute.You would never keep it from moving and touching the sides or the ends and that would foul the weight. You would also have trouble keeping the cables from getting pinched.
If you set some timbers in the ground at each location for your platform to set on, it could be move fairly easy. Keeping all the cables from getting tore up would be an issue but two people can do it. I had my platform built to the length and width I wanted from a sheet metal shop and then had it hot dip galvanized. Then all you just have to do is weld on the load cell supports, bolt them on and you are ready.

Stay away from b&b right now, I bt there scale a year ago and it works great with my under my chute, HOWEVER,i talked a friend of mind into ordering one, they charged his credit card and he never got the scale, contacted him several times and gets the same story, says he moved his business and will get it right out, I felt terrible for recommending b&b, so I e-mailed them and he gave me the same story,now my friend has to sue him to get his money back, stay away

What about a&a? and can that platform 60# scale be left outside all the time and used for calves? Its 56 1/2" long, 20 1/4" wide and weight capacity 2k#

dbrews, if he gets his money back I'll sell him my load bars and monitor that go under the scales for 500. gave 800 for them but i have to move my chute to much for mine to be useful for me. Thanks

Have him contact his credit card company asap. I charged my B & B scales on my Citi visa card and they got my money back for me. He could have fought it or ask for his scales back but he did neither. My never have worked properly. The guy lied to me twice on the phone about sending me some replacement feet for the load cells.

The load cells are NEMA approved so they should stand up to the weather. They are made in China though. The build your own scale set I bought from a & a worked well but the indicator does not lock on to a skittish animal very well. They may have improved since then. Mine chute and scale sit under a open sided barn.

I see. My alley is right on the outside of a sided barn and the gutters are right above the alley
