Thanks angie. You will not hurt a calf by giving a 7 way the first week. For calves on cows that have been properly vaccinated I wouldn't worry about it until I was ready work them up the first time. Bottle calves on the other hand are a different story because we're going to do some things that require the early protection of a 7 way 1. no matter how hard we try we're not going to feed that calf as well as the cow can. 2. We're goimg to expect the calf to be on full feed at a very young age so we can get it off of that high priced milk replacer. A lot of problems can be avoided in bottle calves by feeding exactly at 12 hour intervals.
