Hello y'all. My family and I are 6th generation farmers in West Tn. We raise Angus/ Hereford cattle, hogs and chickens. We also row crop 500+ acres. Just found this forum and want to see how other farmers/ranchers use their skills.

Welcome fellow Vol! How many hogs do you have and how many cattle? East Tennesse here.
We have 12 sows and 1 boar several weaned and about 25 tops and 9 400lbs for sausage hogs. 6 cows with calves and 2 steers for spring killing. Sows are Yorkshire/landrace and Duroc. Boar chester white. Cows Angus/Hereford with a bit of Brangus.

Welcome Rockin. Sounds like you have an interesting business. How do you raise the chickens? Eggs or meat? My daughter is just getting into pasture raised eggs her in Australia.

They are egg layers. Meat birds come in the spring. We have Orpinington, Isa Brown and Cinnamon Queen hens. Meat birds are the Cornish Rock Cross. We feed cracked corn, pellet feed, and all the grass/weeds and table scraps they can eat. We have real good luck with our hens. Working on building some chicken tractors.

if you would add dairy cows onto your list, it would remind me of the small farms around here when I was growing up. Seemed like all the neighbors had a mix of everything on your list. Eventually we all "specialized" in one or the other. Hope you enjoy your time on here and share your knowledge and experiences with us. Welcome
