cb all i can say is wow... It makes me sad those schools didn't have any survivors. I guess schools need to be built with basements now and all homes out that way should be a requirement.

You couldn't pay me enough money to live around Oke City. The area has been it by 124 tornadoes since 1890.

Basement's are safer but you can drown in them as well in these bad storm's.
Hard to design a system to stay safe in all the scenario's of a 200 mph wind and rain storm.
We can do better and need to protect our true national treasure.

Thats what they just said on news. I wouldn't make something up like that.

Know 3 or 4 people from that area in our car club--hoping they are ok.
News says F5--one mile accross.
These were "on slab" homes--not mobile homes.

NWS is calling this the largest tornado ever recorded in US history... 2 1/4 miles wide at one point between Newcastle and Moore - and even this "rural" area is heavily populated. The devastation is heartbreaking.

Please, keep praying.

For any of you CT'ers that openly admit to or secretly have a facebook account, you should be able to see this video. I don't know the individual, apparently a friend of a friend but wow they are lucky.

I was a ways east of Chickasha coming up on some little town earlier today as the storms were building. There was 4 storm chasers parked along the highway looking to the south and one was taking pictures. I thought this isn't a good omen. I continued on and met probably 10 more storm chasers. More than a couple with Texas tags. The more I met, the more I became concerned about what was coming. I didn't know that there was that many people chasing these storms. Some guy had some little hatchback rice burner. I couldn't believe he was out there in that. Some of those roads get slicker than snot when wet and I wouldn't want to be stranded in a mostly glass car with a tornado bearing down on me. I hope that fool will find a 4x4 sometime soon.
