Anybody every shot a 44mag in a 410 shotgun?Had a guy tell me this would work don't sound safe to me.

I wouldn't. Could be dangerous.

The bullet diameter of the 44 Mag is .429"

The bore of a .410 shotgun is .410" and the choke end is even less.

Besides, it wouldn't hit the side of a barn........No rifling in the barrel.

Are you SURE you know some oldtimers that do this?

Would take a fool to try it!

The 45 Long Colt bullet diameter is:

Lead - .454"
Jacketed - .451"

Don't do it.

Just for the record again, the barrel inside diameter of a .410 shotgun is .410". (chokes could be smaller)

The .410 Shotgun slug Diameter is: 0.387" - 0.392"

You do the math.

Now funny you should ask. i was planning on going to look at a kinda new pistol out called the Judge. It shoots a .45 (the old peacemaker not the ACP) revolver that also shoots .410 shells. Has some pretty good reviews.

Its made by Taurus. Just google it. I'm gonna look at em tomorrow, and I'll let you know. A chick I was talking to today told me about a gun they call "the snakecharmer" I'm gonna check that out too.

They have a few handguns that will fire the .44 & the 410 but they are made special just for that. Mine is a super 14 contender barrel. They are perfectly safe (if handeld properly),The only thing is a screw in choke that needs to be removed before shooting the pistol round. Was in the gun store the other day and saw a revolver...did'nt look that close but saw that it was a .44/410
Never, and I mean never load any weapon with any round that it was not made to shoot.

Don;t know if it would but since the pressures are a lot higher with the 30-30 vs what the 410 is proofed at I wouldn;t want to try it.

It is mean that is for sure. Had to learn how to shoot it as due to recoil it slings the pattern up. I was shooting over things at first till I got out some freezer paper and patterned it.

Shooting shotgun shells (410) in a pistol would make that gun a shotgun. Having a shotgun with a barrel less than 20 inches (if I remember correctly) is considered a sawed off shotgun. Not the most legal weapon to own.
