IF they are not calving about every 12 months something is wrong. When are they calving? If you are trying to breed back in our hot humid weather that slows them down. Has the bull been tested? May be nothing wrong with the cows. Might be wroth a vet visit to check it all out.
Bull has been checked and is excellent reproducer per 2 vet BSEs. .
Part of the rebreeding may have been my fault as I pulled a bull in August, replaced with a new one at same time, he was no good, Replaced him in Sept with a young bull that was good, and then replaced him this April. So We gonna see what next year brings..
But, for the most part we either weaned or sold calves last July and Sept, so it looks like 4 or 5 didn't rebreed till their calves were pulled, which was also around bull change times, BUT realistically they should have rebred before that anyways..
Run DOWN: Jan 2012: 2 calves(1 had another Dec 2012 and the other still does not have a calf to this date.. She will be sold, waiting on vet check to see if she is even bred or how far along she is. She lost lots of weight after her last calf. She really put out the milk! 640# steer in 5 1/2 months.)
Feb 2012: 1 calf(She is just now fixing to calf again) Great cow, may give her 1 more attempt.
March 2012: 2 calves(1 had one 20 day prior to being a year, the other still not had one and will be sold after this one unless it's very soon!)
April 2012 : 3 calves ( 1 had calf 9 1/2 months later, 1 had calf 12 months 10 days later, and the third still not had one but looks like she gonna pop any day. Good big cow and will prob keep another year if she hurrys up. She'll be 14 months.) But with those April calves it's June/july before they re-breed and it's hot here that time of year.
That's all that should have had by now. Bought a heifer last year that is due anytime now, Had 1 that had a calf end of Sept and 2 first of Oct that aren't due yet. And 3 bought end of last year that had calves first of this year. So Now that I have a steady bull in their with them that I like, we'll see how these do next year.. But I have 2 and possibly 3 that will go to market after vet comes to check and make sure they not 8 months bred.
