Well, my bull calf is 205 days old, so I figured I ought to take a picture.. forgot to bring the tape measure to see what his chest girth is though. I'm liking him more and more, really good growth, and he's got nice length and a meaty butt. I'm figuring he's somewhere in the 700-725 lb range. Momma is an 8 year old, always makes a great calf and is an easy keeper. This guy, like his brothers are all below herd average birthweight, and all born in a matter of minutes. Comes from a line of cows that all got old and never had a lick of trouble with them.

 
He's starting to get the neck hump now, and he's been sniffing butts for months. A real suck for attention too. I saw him next to Sofa, my long yearling heifer, and he isn't THAT much smaller than her. I'll see what I do with him next spring, if someone waves cash in my face I may take it, but I'm at the point where I have to manage my grazing a little differently, and if I can split off a bunch of the heifers and young cows it would make it much easier for me, and I need a second bull to do it, I'm pretty confident he's heifer-safe so he'd go with them, I'm a little less confident with the Limo bull on them, but I'll see next year.
 
Nice looking bull calf I like big butts, what kind of breeding? Looks like some I have, that are sh x red angus. I was into limo in a big way years ago I liked them for ease of calving and big butts but were just too lively for me.
 
He's Gelbvieh sired by the bull in my avatar, Mother is SH x Saler. I think the Saler still shows pretty well in him... That "Devil is always pretty" is very closely related to this guy

With the Limos, was it the cows that were too lively? Our Limo bull is a totally laid back baby.. Speaking of lively, Salers are good at that, but his grandma's line was an exception... The most docile and people-loving cows I have.

Here's another brother, a steer, it was her first calf I think. When I saw how she raised them, I figured I had to keep one intact to try out.


I got a picture of another steer brother around somewhere, just can't seem to find it right now, He was darker but also darned big
