2024 Stocker Project!

Well, yesterday sealed the deal. Pretty much out of grass over there. I plan on loading all calves and selling next week. Both sets of stockers and my unweaned calves as well.
Heres a couple pics.
The beltie will probly stay there. The gal I'm "renting" pasture from loves her. I'll probly just give her the silly thing. 😆

The tall slender black heifer on the right will be dinner eventually. She will probly stay there with the beltie. I think we are gonna feed her a while and see how that goes.

Be a nice cheque Murray, what are we investing in next? Do you have some hay close by to put some calves on?

I have my thoughts, will see what tomorrow brings.Depending how many cows we thin out, the undervalued cattle here are heavy heifer calves. Several ways to go with them should market soften.
We are building a small house this fall too for a married guy that is coming before calving time. That will take care of needing 100 or so calves to avoid giving Justin a cent.

An old mentor of mine who traded a LOT of cattle told me when the market is high to buy little steer and bull calves because the dollars per head were less.

Buying them thin is even better. Price is cheaper also.
I only got a few Saturday but they weighed 377 average and cost 1.92. Black and already steers.

It's a tough go of it here.
There's a guy (neighbor actually) that really buys them all up as best he can. If ya get any bought when he's there, ya give too much unfortunately
