It looks like you would LOSE less by growing soybeans. Not sure that losing less is a good plan.

I already planned to drill more forage mixes and plant more fence posts. I could just keep drilling - - but them someone would have to buy more cattle...

Are you seeing deals on short term cows now that the kill market has dropped some?

Drop in kill market didn't seem to affect the bred cow market around here very much and kill price is starting back up. Am guessing the glut of new year tax carryover beef and dairy culls may be subsiding. Cutter cow index and wholesale 90% ground beef still trading at near record prices so am hoping kill prices will continue to rise as spring grass approaches and culling declines.

Packer cows were $10+ per cwt. higher yesterday than a week before. Packer bulls were $12 to $15 per cwt. higher. I asked one of the packer buyers what happened in a week? His response was the flow of packer cows in the north just stopped. Putting money on to try to draw some animals to market.

1) Special effect - - some dairy guys held 2014 culls because the milk check was too big.
2) Traditional seasonal trend.

I see the seasonal trend but it is forcast that the milk prices are gonna drop a lot soon so I actually expect more cows to be sold soon. Yes cows are higher this week because of the numbers.

Oh I have no idea on the price of milk, just been reading that the supply is way up and the price is predicted to fall pretty bad.
