Here is a pic of the heavy heifer. A little pinched up front but good hindquarter.

I like her. It would be my luck that she would PAP about a 60.

My kind of girl though. Big butted and hopefully docile!

Docile enough to almost pet. Her momma is a big pet. Her momma is a commercial red angus cow out of King Rob. I imagine a few folks on here remember King Rob. Semen on him is big bucks these days as there is not much left. I don't have much knowledge about PAP scores but if you need one that can do well in a hot, humid environment (definetly not colorado...lol) she could be a winner. We had a very hot and humid summer and she did pretty well. Personally she is my kinda cow but I like my wimmens with a little less butt and a little fire in the eye :)

Well then yer a bit younger than me. I am tired of all that excitement. ;-) Gotta have me a big butted woman tho :cowboy:

I had to get up some calves today and the big heifer that I posted a picture of in this thread went in the corral with them. She looked like she had grown which really surprised me since I separated her from her momma cold turkey just 3 weeks ago. On a whim I ran her across the scales since she was already in the pen. She weighed 802 lbs. She gained 56 lbs in 21 days on just grass WHILE upset about not finding her momma. I have no idea how big this girl will get as she is only 7 months old. I hope she moderates out some. I don't really want a 1,600 lb. cow when she matures.......................

that's quite the gain.... I think most of our cows are in the 14-1700 lb mature weight range... I have one who's about a frame 8 and according to a weigh tape she's 1900 lbs (92" heart girth)... helluva nice looking cow though

I was looking at my weight gain graphs that I made over the summer, and I noticed something peculiar... I have some calves that steadily gained 2.8 lb/day over the entire season, but some grew only on the waxing moon... at first I thought it was coincidence, but this heifer has kept it up all season.. she'll gain 5 lbs a day for 2 weeks, and then pretty much stop growing for the next 2 weeks (I'm not keeping her). I know it's not an environmental factor since other calves have growth spikes at the same time she stops growing
