We have a 2 yr. old heifer that is in good body condition and weighs around 1100 lbs. She is Angus and better than decent quality. What should her avg. yield be in lbs. of beef if we have her slaughtered?

Depending on the condition of the heifer she should hang about 60-65% of her live weight. Then when you put that into packages you will lose about another 40% depending on how much bone and trim there is removed. That will again depend on her condition and exactly how you have her cut (more boneless cuts equals more loss).

Her carcass weight should be in the 600 lb range, so I would assume that you would have 350-400 lbs of beef.
