2,4D Question

Just curious what brand of this you use if you use it and how much per gallon it runs in your area. It's about $15.60/gal in quantity and $17.88 if you buy individual gallon which I don't but.........

Just bought 2 1/2 gallons each of Treflan, 2-4-D, and Roundup.

Treflan - $45
2-4-D - $43
Roundup (Cornerstone) $60

I have been using generics. Trifuralin = 25/2.5 gal. My brand of 2-4D was Amine and 17.50/2.5 gal. I got 275 gallons of Rascal(generic Roundup) for 10.50/gal.

I bought two, 2 & 1/2 gallon containers of 2,4 D and it was just under $80 at check-out; something like $39.00 and change per container.

Dang, Scotty has found a good supplier at $17 for 2.5 gallons. Well I am through buying for this year and hopefully I won't need spray 2,4D next year. I have sprayed three years running now but I will keep a close eye on it.

thats how i been control'in wild butter cup. ever other year just staying a little ahead of it. cause unless the neighbors spray your wast'in bullets

Yep, them butter cups are my problem also. I have 90% under control now and hope this last dose will do it with just some touch up every now and then.

Buttercups are an indicator plant. Typically, you find buttercups in over grazed areas or in areas with poor fertility or low pH. It also might be worth your while to run a pasture renovator or subsoil shank through your feilds.
If you are not already doing a soil analysis, I would recommend doing one to determine if soil nutrient levels and your soil pH.

The best way of controlling any weed is to keep the desired grass healthy and vigorous. Try using some of the practices I mentioned above if you are having a tough time controlling the buttercups with herbiicides.

Do not have any butter cups. And the 2-4D I use is Amine. It is a little different. I found out today that genric roundup is only 50 cents/acre higher. Guesse every thing is going to go up. The latest trend is all blamed on the corn crop increase.

I do use the above practices, this is moist bottom land. dont matter how much you keep the soil up.you will see it on fertile crop land this stuff im talking about has a shollow root system and is easy killed but it will return if you dont stay on top of it. most folks just refer to it as yellow weed
