I saw Machinery Pete reported a 1976 IH 1066 with 2972 hours sold at auction last week in Ohio to a Canadian buyer.
$27,000 Highest price ever recorded for a 1066 with over 1,000 hours
One 1066 sold higher 14 years ago in 2004 (1975 model with under 900 hours)

I assume the Super Moon caught hold of the bidders and Nesi vs Aaron bidding war must have ensued.
Both like RED and since Aaron's a Massey guy, Nesi won?
:)

p.s.
nice tractor with front end weights and no cab, but my guess is someone has about $7,000 worth of buyer's remorse.

edit to add:
IH1066 list price $21,100 in 1976
2wd 6-cylinder 6.8L turbocharged diesel engine 106hp 126 pto hp
built in Rock Island, Illinois

Yep, no bidding here for an International. Went to auction in Hallock, MN with neighbor back in end of November. He was bidding on Ford Bidirectional, which went to Blackduck, MN. About 1/2 equipment and almost all the tractors went to this side of the border. Lots of guys looking for older stuff and paying good money, don't want anything to do with new climate-saving crap. Only guys buying new at dealers are ones that are either leasing or trade in every two years. After which it get sold to guys in US. Local JD dealer sends almost all his returns down to Indiana and Illinois and laughs to the bank.

I believe when folks get into bidding wars at auctions..it becomes a peeing contest..."""I came here to buy that, ain't leaving without it""""

Never works that way on something I'm selling.

that auction was about 10 miles west of me. Very well respected muti generation local family. That 1066 was bought new by that family, was in original condition, very well kept. And, it was a true, authentic black stripe.

Yes sir, and bidding frenzies such as this seem to happen more often than not during full moons.
As this one did during the super moon.

I'm sure it was also an excellent piece of iron to set highest price ever at 42 years of age and going to work not to
a collector just for fun. As mentioned the last time it happened was 14 years ago on model with less than 900 hours.

I've made honest people out of a few of them! I never know if it's the owner or a minion trying to bid me up or just another guy.

1976 Massey Ferguson 1135 excellent condition with 3511 hours and cab sold for $9,000 last week in Illinois.

MF 1135 list price $31,000 in 1978

Hmmm... spend $27,000 on 3 MF1135s each with a cab or buy 1 open station IH1066 - all 4 excellent condition
A no brainer or what?

It'll take all 3 of them 1135s to do the same work the 1066 will do! LOL. I run both tractors and both are good, but the 1066 is a working SOB and the 414 is second to none.

As for the price, that's pretty salty but a lot of people will pay a premium for a true Black Stripe 66 series. Not sure I'd pay that much though.
