On July 2, 2000, a beautiful Sunday morning, I fell down the stairs and broke my leg. I blame my husband. :D He wasn't feeling well and I decided to sleep upstairs so I wouldn't catch what he had. The kids (2 and 5) thought it was play time at 7AM and went downstairs. I dragged my butt out of bed so they wouldn't destroy the house and caught my toe on the step, one step was all it took. I can still hear the crunch. I got to the landing and hollered at my hubby. He came running (about passing out) checked on me and went back to bed. :help: After a few minutes it was clear something was wrong and called MIL to watch the kids. Got to the hospital and have the oldest doctor on the face of the planet check on me. He's saying how in the old days the person would just have to sit still for six weeks and behind him the nurse is waving her arms and mouthing NO!! Got a good dose of painkiller and sent to another hospital for surgery. Had to wait for the doctor coming back from church. Was in surgery for 3 hours after they told hubby 45 minutes. He didn't know what was going on. My roomie was a girl that had fallen off a deck and had a similar break. Her 25 relatives visited and cussed the whole time and she woke up at 3AM and cranked up the CMT .
Now we're 10 years later and still have the 2 plates and 12 screws in my tibia and fibula. A little creakier in the morning, can't run in the cattle yard anymore, and slightly phobic of stairs.

your not alone.my mom was coming down the stairs an slipped on a book.thus falling down the last 3 stairs breaking her leg.an messing her ankle up bigtime.
