07 Polled Hereford Calf Pics

Farmwife, I see a very strong shoulder structure, which is usually an indication of a bit of width in the chest. I also see calves with the potential to have nice deep chests and strong hindquarters. I know they are young, but would have been very happy if they were mine. They look to be out of either the same sire or closely related dams.

Like to know the breeding

Thanks for the compliments. Yes they are young (pics about 3 weeks old); they look alot different now.

Heifer is out of a RW Sarah cow bred to DCC Temple.

1st Bull is out of an 8006 cow bred to C&L Forte.

2nd Bull is out of an old line Victor cow bred to DCC Freedom.

I think they really have potential in the show ring as well as foundations for a herd. Time will tell.

I really like that heifer and 160 bull. The other bull may be a little to leggy. I have had some like that. They did not get the depth till later. May be the pic. Repost at about 6 or 7 mo. It would great to see them grow and develope.

I was just asking a question, so I guess no I wasn't kidding. Is there something I missed. I don't think I have ever seen his cattle on this forum. Or possibly that is what you are referring to.

yes i have seen a few pics of caustic's cattle on this forum, been awhile but he has posted some!

he might be cantankerous and rough around the edges but he usually is right on the money!
i feel he is a little off on this one but everyone has opinions,

No I am right on just some peoples high water mark isn't as high as others. When you drive by Camp's or Circle C's and look at what a herd of Herf's are supposed to look like. When you try to play in the seedstock game you a have just entered the major leauge. Not hard to spot the rookies.

i raise herefords and while i do not think that these two are top of the line i do not think they are that bad!

While we're no rookie to the cattle business, we don't consider ourselves pros either. When you get to the point that you think you have raised the best, that's the point at which you begin to fail.

The cattle business is dynamic. We think we have better cattle than we have ever had; our cows are frame 5-6, great milkers, wean a 600+ bull/heifer everytime and maintain their conformation throughout the year. We have well bred cattle with diverse bloodlines. We use AI bulls that will enhance the lesser traits of our cows. This doesn't sound like rookie thinking to me!

They might be your best and thats good for you, they would be considered the low water mark here. I like Herefords and Brimmers you need to look for what quality herfs look like do a search for Camp's, Knersie's Cert's Bez's or txag's cattle look like.

I've found that getting good pictures of cattle takes skill. Most of the amateur pictures I take never seem to show how the cattle really look to my eye.

But I could be barn-blind.

I'm partial to your 075 heifer.

But what do I know? I have some of them "trainwreck" Remitall cattle!
