    I got chickens but that would be a PITA to move birds around like that. Guineas do better job of catching bugs, but chickens try hard for them too. Chicken predators seems like they would have a hay day

    I was on this board a year and a half or so ago, reading and asking questions... cattle prices were high, and i got married and built a house in the mean time.. So now im looking back into it... prices seem lower now. So thats better for me. I have 200 acres, lots of grass, all grown up...

    I appreciate the input. Im thinking i may go both routes, buy bred cows, then buy weened heifer calves to grow out. Try to buy them 175-300 lbs and sell em around 800lbs... For those wondering, i have chutes and corals already in place. My grandparents all raised cattle, so i grew up on it...

    Big Cheese, that calf SCREAMS Longhorn. The head shape, body shape, color, and all. If anyone has looked at a longhorn long enough to understand the body structure you can see that its a dead give away. It doesnt have the body structure as a meat cow

    Weeding through all the "bs" and researching on my own, reading, watching the market reports and everything else ive been doing im fairly sure im going to start with the brangus and hereford breeds... Im thinking both breeds for some cows, then a hereford bull... that way i can get baldies...

    yeah.. i have someone i know thats in the cattle business making some phone calls for me today to see what he can find with other people he knows... they are all pretty knowledgble and work a lot with youth show cattle, we will see what turns up... i dont really want to buy from an auction...
