How much of this cow's horns can be trimmed bewi

What's the end goal? Most rodeo associations want them trimmed back to the size of a silver dollar. You draw blood at that stage We salvage a few roping steers by tipping. Most of the time, you can feel warmth in the horn.

    Cattle Buyers

I've sold on superior 2 or 3 times. Rep was a nice guy. My calves are too mixed matched for it to really work great for me.

    What improvements are you making?

Started many years ago with a medina Went to an alley and a head catch Went from a head catch to a squeeze I've had a tub ordered for several months, and it's not in yet. My bud box days will soon be over.

When did you become a business?

Everybody needs a second checking account for farm expenses. Not everybody needs to incorporate.

    Y’all seen this?

It's a great idea. As intgrated as processing is with distribution, I wonder if they can get the product from where it's at, to where it needs to be?

Y'all ever watch Naked and Afraid? Well....

I sometimes sit in my recliner eating cheetos, and pass judgement on how well they are doing.

    Preparing for calving - banding

Tetanus vaccine is cheap....calves are expensive.

    Trusting you guys

Honestly, the carrying cost for a year makes keeping anything around that isn't sucking a calf too much dead weight to have around.

    Feed bin blow pipe?

I live in a town you can't find bread, eggs, cheese and milk, but bought that locally off the shelf. I think I gave $150 for it. Kinda high, but I really like it. I'll get you in contact if you'd like.

    Keeping Horse warm

I usually blanket one for a trailer ride when it’s cold. Blankets look uncomfortable to me.

    Keeping Horse warm

Your doing about all you can. It won't help with the cold, but you can top dress his senior feed with a little calf manna. If he can chew senior feed, he can chew it. About as much nutrition in it as your gonna find. Kinda like ensure for senior citizens.

Buy cattle in spring sell in winter

You need to buy cattle with growth potential in their frame (that’s what your growing at that age). Different times in life, I have followed that model. It’s fine other than your buying at a high point in the market and selling at a low. Also don’t get em over 725 pounds (not around here anyway).

    Lumber

I've built two new homes in my life. First one blew away, still living in the second. When I put all the expenses for those on a spread sheet, the lumber was small beans a percent of the total price. I'd like to see at current price for lumber, how much it's raised the cost of a home per...

    Lumber

I suppose a house could be built from rough lumber. Labor of framing would be higher, sheet rock screws would be popping and pulling. Banks may look twice before financing.

    Culling by age?

It takes an exceptional cow for me to keep her last 10. I’m literally hoping for heifers out of her to keep her that long. Reasons I sell cows by 10 1. They still have some considerable value at that age compared to a gummer. 2. Young cow herd is always more productive 3. Young cows...

    Cow cost per head....2020

Naw, your not missing something. That 800 pound and over weight has really been taking a beating. Which is strange, because commodioare on the rise. They don’t have to feed them as long. Seems like they’d be a better investment. Most of my weakness calves get sold in the high 600 pound...

    Cow cost per head....2020

That’s a good question actually. On calves I buy to background, I get pretty excited if I make $150. I’m pretty well satisfied at $75 per head. I have lost on them to of course. I’d say on cow and calf pairs, to get over and above depreciation and every last single penny spent you’d need to...

    Cow cost per head....2020

I’ve had a wet year, and managed grass pretty good if I can winter a cow on less than 1.5 tons of hay. I’m assuming your in Wyoming. I would have thought you guys hay more days than here.
