    Veterinarian relationship.

It's crazy here, we have a vet that we've used, 12 miles away. He wouldn't give me an aspirin, but the boss can get nuflor. I have another guy, 15 miles away, that weve used on our lease place, and I can get whatever with a call or email, swing by and pick it up. Both have facilities.

    Minerals!!

I'm curious, as to how aggressive your stocking rate is, we're aggressive and I was wanting to use it as a tool for the least grazed areas, maybe.

    Minerals!!

Was just going to do a search on this subject, a lot learned. I like the homemade feeders, but bought 2 of the round rubber flap ones this spring, mounted them on skids, and have reduced my waste quite a bit. Anybody ever use the Riomax products? Mineral is our second highest input, and if we...

    Baytril 100

I was actually referring to the otc stuff not being avaliable without rx, mostly. We used to use the additive in feed the same way, with bought unweaned calves. I don't remember What the vet used, its been a couple of years, in his defense, one was PI positive.

I cannot explain, how bad this vfd deal pizzes me off! I have had 2 calves die, because of it, had the vet out, but he didn't have what was needed on the truck, We have since quit doing business. I told him the last time, I will get it somewhere, and I did, calf saved.

Is it important to have shelter for young calves outside, if so why?

A windbreak for the bitterest environment, other than that no, imo shelters turn into a sloppy contaminated mess.

    Choking

True, but I saw one of my prime steers that just wouldn't go in the catch, globbing a dang horse apple, and it just made me sick, still alive, but watching him trying to eat that thing just almost made me want to shoot him, right there.

    Choking

Yep, and I may have told this before, about a cow choking and a bunch of guys trying to cut , a pear, I believe out of her throat. Jammed a rake handle down her , and bought her for 5 bucks. An old tale , that was probably true.
