    Two newbies who bought two 6 mo Herford Heifers from

    having them halter broke helps. but its not gonna solve your control problem. my herf is a very calm and gentle calf, but when you tie her up to give her a shot she'll go crazy. im not sayin yours will, but i would recomend to make sure you have a sturdy place to tie them up.

    no offense or nothin but that vet is pathetic. if your cow is choking or watever they should come and look at it!!! or atleast be able to bring it in. put her in the chute and take a look. that shouldnt hurt her. do you have anyone with experience or more knowledge to come help you??

    i think it depends on the animal. ive seen it both ways too. but in my personal experience i think he'll eat more with a buddy. JMO.

    also, to get him really goin on the grain, hand feed him some. they really enjoy that. but they tend to bite. it just hurts for a little while. :P

    wow and just how many calves has this "advisor" raised?! i take it you dont have much of a life considering that you give eight bottles a day to one calf. how much do they get at a feeding? the grain sounds right, but no hay?! :shock: they need that. i think you should be talkin to these other...

    thanks guys. ya'll made me feel better about it. i had a heck of a time sleepin last nite. i was so worried. but she wasnt bleedin out her nose, it was her mouth, she had bubbles comin out her nose. i felt all of her legs. they were hard. if it even makes a differnce anymore.
