    The Other 50%?

You would think with all the by-products that cattle produce they would be bring more than $1.00/lb

Between a ROCK and a HARD SPOT!

I'm definitely for a more moderate sized cow. Anything over 1400 lbs is a little high for me. I'd go broke trying to feed 2000 lb cows.

    How Grandpa Called The Cows

All we had to do was blow the horn on the truck and they'd come get it.

    Pounds Trump Quality Every Time

Interesting. If we aren't getting adequately compensated for additional quality, what is the incentive for doing the extras that impact the end product other than weight? Should breeders focus solely on pounds and disregard carcass traits?

    Connelly Lead On

Not to hijack this thread and I know the cow is half the equation, but what other Angus sires besides Lead On sires beautiful replacement heifers.

    Checking Cows!

We don't have that kind of weather where I'm from. I'm always amazed to see cows hold condition like that in an environment like yours with little input.

    Checking Cows!

    The Optimum Cow

If you won't find her in a situation where the goal of the rancher is to produce a calf that will get the most premiums possible or a rancher who merely sells their calves at weaning, where do you find her?

    Hybird Vigor

Dun what exactly is recombining regression?

    Hybird Vigor

If I had a herd of Brangus cows and I ran 2 bulls (Black Angus & Hereford) which calves would exhibit the most hybird vigor, the Angus or the Hereford sired calves? The Angus sired calves would be 3/4 Angus & 1/4 Brahman and the Hereford sired calves would be 1/2 Hereford 5/16 Angus 3/16 Brahman.

    Angus Plus/Ultra Black

I haven't had any experience with them, but I know Cow Creek Ranch has been marketing them for some time. I have talked with the people there, they are really nice. Give em a call. http://www.cowcreekbulls.com/Ultrablack.html

    Need Advice

This is what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would sell the current bull. If he has an attitude problem he should have been gone yesterday. I would also buy more Angus/Brangus type cows and I would definitely go with a Hereford bull. You will get some nice baldies with that combination.

    AI Costs

Is it worth it to spend the extra money to sync and breed than it is to heat detect naturally and then breed?

    AI Costs

With TIME being one of the biggest obstacles, how do big time Seedstock operations AI so many cows in a short period of time?

    Strange Occurance

I haven't seen that before, but I do miss the days of shopping at the commissary. You can get twice as much food on base as you can on the outside.

Very nice mnmtranching. What is their breeding? How many cows did you have them with? How long is your breeding season?

    Hereford Cattle

Watching the Star Lake Sale on RFD this weekend peaked my interest in Hereford cattle. Why do you Hereford breeders like them so much?
