Best cross breed with an angus

I have an Angus cow that was bred to a Beefmaster. I don't know what the calf will look like, but the little guy/gal is due any time now according to the vet. I'll post some pics as soon as it arrives.

    Pics of your herd bull

Here's mine. Not the best pictures. They really don't do him justice.

    Our first black Beefmaster calf

    Nice calf. Love those ears.

    First ad

I agree with Tab/s, the picture should look better in the print ad. If it doesn't, that's the only real criticism that I would have. Good job and good luck.

    Average Age Of Farmers

Trey, I'm right there with you. I wasn't able to jump into ranching until I turned 32. I've always wanted to do it, just couldn't afford it. Most of my family spent most of their lives working on other peoples land and learned a lot. My grandfather managed a dairy farm and my uncle farms...

    So how old are you?

I'm 34, feel like I'm 84. I think I'm paying for all the hell raising I did in my teens and 20s. My dad is 71 and I think he could out work me any day of the week. I can't see him stopping either. It must be something about that generation. GREAT work ethic!!

My Colorful world of Beefmasters !

I think you have a great bunch of calves! I don't know why you'd get docked. Beefmasters don't have a set hide color. Did you mean at the sale barn? Also, I've been considering crossing my beefmaster with a limo and saw your bull. Have you done this a lot in the past and how do you feel...

    What breed?

BullLady, I'm in Williamson County. I made the mistake of consulting with them when I bought the place because we didn't want to lose the exemption. The did come out, twice; and they were out here this year as well. Our neighbor had an even tougher time because his piece (all part of the...

    What breed?

3MR, Believe it or not I tried telling the county that. The property I bought had been in the old man's family since before Texas became a state and had been farmed and ranched since then. Because the property was being sold they wanted me to establish a new time-line of ag use (5 of 7 years)...

    What breed?

I'm not going to use him for breeding. As a matter of fact, he's destined for the freezer. I was just curious to see what everyone thought he might be? He has really good temperament and is very gentle. His problem (in addition to not knowing his background) is that he has been maturing...

    What breed?

Here are some pics of my bull Braveheart (we call him that because he was afraid of everything and everyone). When we bought him we were given a bunch of wrong information about him and the other heads we bought. Can anyone tell me what breed you think he is? Personally, I think he's some...

    a beefmaster line (pics)

Sorry couldn't get their names on there, but from top to bottom they are: Black Magic, Spartacus, Cherokee Phantom USA, Cavalier. By the way, I just started ranching so at the moment we only have a few head of cattle and one registered beefmaster (Magic Show, the bull you asked about). I'm...

    a beefmaster line (pics)

Sorry if you didn't get the PM. I still haven't quite figured out all of the quirks here. The bull's sire is magic vision whose sire was Black Magic(typesetter (TS))who in turn came from Country Western(TS)and Magic Mom(TS), and Woodstock(TS) On the dam's side his granddad is Cavalier(TS) and...

    a beefmaster line (pics)

Tx, I like em. How old is Stetson? He looks like he might end up changing colors on you. As you may or may not know, I own a black/white paint beefmaster. His dad and granddad were black beefmasters that were deemed as "typesetters" by the beefmaster breeders association. Good looking cattle.

    F1 and other crosses

I guess this is basically a two pronged question. First, what exactly is an F1 cross? Is it the product of breeding two purebred cattle or is it something else. Secondly, I have a registered beefmaster that has been bred to my purebred (not registered) heifers which are angus and brangus...

    Beefmaster Bulls (Pics)

I own a beefmaster bull and at the risk of criticizing my own bull, I would use 1625. I like his length and proportion and muscle structure. I'm not too concerned with the coloring because once cattle is butchered the quality of the animal really comes to bare. I do appreciate that color does...

OK- Wanted to Post Pictures of Some New Cows

I haven't been able to get the pictures to post with the actual text that I'm typing, but I've been able to link the URL to the picture. If you click the "Img" button right above the text box and then paste the Url link followed by the "Img" button again, it should attach the pic. At least...

    Question about Beefmasters

Please excuse my ignorance on this subject. I've often seen people refer to Beefmaster cattle as being BBU Classified U 1/3 or some variation of that. What exactly does that mean and do any of you know where I could learn more about that? I appreciate any help with this.
