    Wolves

Here are some wolves that my sons picked up around here. We've never lost any cattle to wolves . We believe the best defense is a good offence :cowboy: . The one by the snowmobile weighed 105#s and the one taken before the snow was 103#s. None of the other ones were weighed.

I guess I should have been more clear from the beginning that what I'm looking for is a terminal herdsire. Thanks again.

    Potential new herdsire

Like I said when I take him back I'm going to have a good look at his yearling bull calves and heifers before I make a decision. "red dont sale" doesn't make much sense to me. I've had 2 buyers evaluate my program in the last year and they told me not to change anything. Using a black bull on...

    Potential new herdsire

I'm aware of the dip in the back and I couldn't get a rear view but he does has some good fleshy hip on him . I am a commercial breeder and like I said I use AI to make replacements His temperment is very good .

    Potential new herdsire

This is a 2 1/2 year old simmy bull out of Bodybuilder.I used him on 2 hiefers last year when my cleanup bull went lame. I was amazed at the calving ease since both heifers were on the small side. I rented him again this summer and had him breed about 30 cows after his owner was finished with...

    Hey randiliana

Since you're down in the Southwest corner I was wondering if you know Albert Harrison from Southwest Genetics ? I just got finished taking the AI course he put on at Tisdale last week . It was a great course and met a bunch of new cattlemen from all over the province .

    Shaver beefblend

Well I finnally got my Shaver cross Simmental calf tonight . I checked cows at 6:00 and at 8:30 there was a calf on the ground . This calf has a nice shape for calving ease and is very vigorous . Probably around 80 pounds . Oh , it's a red baldy , hiefer .

    Red Reality

Has anyone here used Red Reality 33J . Apparently his MM fell apart and Genex dropped him . So far I have 1 hiefer off him with one more calf to come in . Should I sell the hiefer along with the steers ? What are your experiences with his daughters ?

    Shaver beefblend

Aaron , Thanks for the link . I see shavers don't have simmental in them so it will be intersting to see the results of hybrid vigor . Doc , "nothing ventured nothing gained " . It was only 2 cows , if the results are lacking the hiefer will go to slaughter and the bull will be a steer...

    Shaver beefblend

Purecountry , do you know what the other breed was in the cross ? As far as I know a Shaver is a composite consisting of (I think) 9 differant breeds , not including hereford or angus . I've never been able to find anything on the internet about them . TK Ranch , What breed does your friend...

    Shaver beefblend

Anyone here have any experience with Shavers . Last spring my breeder had some Shaver semen in his tank so I thought I'd insemminate a couple Simmental cows and see what happens . One of the cows got an intestinal blockage about 45 days ago and I had to put her down . The other one is due to...
