ksmit454...Purchasing cattle from someone who knows neither their respective sire(s) nor dam(s) IMO is puzzling if your goal was to acquire "really good registered Angus stock". CA has a plethora of respected Angus seedstock breeders all over the state.

Which begs the question...knowing the breeder doesn't register the calves why would you pursue attempting to register the heifers?

Its not rocket science. Find a program who's goals are compatible with yours, is reputable & has a track record of honesty & backing their bulls 100 %.

Thats a nice looking baby and especially considering she's an aged cow. She's needs and deserves abundant TLC

I've raised registered RA since '89 and commercials since '79. If you've been disappointed with the purebreds versus commercials I suggest your source of the former is suspect.

When docility is valued its frustrating when properly handled cattle cattle rebel. That said I've had otherwise gentle cattle who weren't comfortable in isolation as well as those who didn't take kindly to human interference when newly calved. All things considered, you have to pick your...

Fact of life...unless you have pot loads of uniform quality calves taking a hit come sale day is given. That said when I dispersed the majority of my herd when I moved to OR and didn't have an established cliental, my Red Angus sale calves were well received. YMMV
