    What is your commute?

My commute is 40 miles each way. I try to time it so that I don't hit too much Dallas traffic. It gets stressful having enough daylight hours in the winter. I get used to doing chores in the winter by flood lights.

    Got a Texas question....

Transplant to Texas and I won't live anywhere else in the country ever again. I am a first generation cattle raiser and have learned most of it the hard way.

    Using Horses

We cup our hands and "MOOOOO" to get them running up. They can hear us from quite a long distance away. It is embarrasing though to stand in your pasture and moooo when others are with you. They look at you like you lost your marbles.

    Off the farm occupations

I am a senior manager of a group of web programmers. Don't like the work anymore and am studying to take my Texas Real Estate exam. Looking for something to give me more time to ranch.

    The Next Ford Super Duty

The problem with the Dodge's is not the engine, it is the rest of the truck. Dodge's are notorious for transmission and differential problems. Also when you hit 150,000 miles, you better take duct tape and super glue with you on every trip. I've got a good friend who has a Dodge with 250,000...

    Rain, Rain and more Rain!

Just send some a little west to the Dallas area. We could use more!

    Head Gate

Keep your eye open for an add in the farm section of your classifieds in the newspaper. I've seen equipment like this offered before and it usually does not last long. If priced appropriately, usually will sell the first day or two. A lot of people look for used equipment but not many people...

    N Tx Salebarns...

This is a GREAT salebarn. I haven't been there in a couple of years but my experience was always very positive. If you were needing cash or had hard circumstances and you let them know, they would work a little extra hard to get you the most cash possible for your cattle.

    Got Milk?

Even down here in black country, I'd be happy to take her off your hands. I'll be up with the truck and trailer this weekend. Send directions.

    will they cross?

I was more intrigued with why you were looking to make this cross?

    Do-it-yourself Web Site?

I highly recommend a web site for your cattle operation. I run 2 sites ( http://www.lazyhillranch.com and http://www.semkinlonghorn.com ), one for myself and another for a business associate. It is the primary way we sell our longhorns. But then again, most people looking for longhorns are...

    ATV Question

We have a low end Yamaha. I love it and would like to add a larger and stronger model. This thing has been very tough for us and I'm amazed at what I can do with it. I can zip across a pasture to find a missing cow, get through the creeks with ease, climb hills that otherwise tire me out, etc. I...

    Software

We use the LonghornMax product because we run Registered Texas Longhorns and Commercial Brangus. It works great for both herds and I even keep the two herds separate in the software under different file names. Works great!

    Shameless plug

Thanks for sharing this. We lease a lot of land and tend to run electric wire when major sections of fence need to be replaced or patched. That way I can take my fence with me when I loose the lease. (A lot of the land in my area keeps selling and getting developed.) This would be great to...
