    a big factor is removing the calf and tubing them quality colostrum - many dairies will freeze high quality colostrum and use on new calves....they know the calf will get the start it needs to be healthy -- after about 24hrs a calf cant absorb the major nutrients in colostrum anymore -

    thanks for all the suggestions :tiphat: I was able to get the pair sorted off into another pasture ... the problem heifer isn't due until mid January of 2015. when I get a chance i'll try and upload a picture

    Had a heifer calve yesterday evening - all went smooth. Had about a 70# heifer...only issue was another heifer (2years old & pregnant) started trying to nurse her and after that tried to claim the calf :bang: :bang: will the heifer grow out of this ? I don't want to sell her but prices are...
