    Small frame cows

The 1000 - 1300 lb cow weaning 50% of her weight on a forage / salt / mineral diet in 6-7 months is a pretty good way (weigh?) to go, IMO.

    4 month old heifers bred?

A friend of mine has a cow who calved at 16 months (bred by a half brother), 27 months and 36 months of age, with her third calf coming on her third birthday.

    Smaller calves from older cows?

    A good question.

    Any reason why?

If you're green, you're growing. If you're ripe, you're rotting.

    Twin heifer a Free Martin?

Your daughter sired twin boys? That sounds complicated! :pop:

    Twin heifer a Free Martin?

The test to know for sure is CHEAP. If she's NOT a free martin it'd be well with the cost of she develops.

    A (seemingly) novel idea

His objective is to use cattle to heal broken land and sell grass fed ground beef ... different deal than what most of us are trying to do.

    A (seemingly) novel idea

Same bulls for everyone. After the first year, they'll all be 12-16 (ish) months old. He's not planning on calving year round ... 45 days. And yes, if he starts with bad cattle, he'll have a brutal time succeeding.

    Heifers from a heifer

I've got a dad/daughter cow; one of my nicest and is a donor for us. I'm w/ CP ... leave them on their mamas. Agreed w/ no condition problem if the bull is interested.

    A (seemingly) novel idea

How do you get to a 1.0 : 1.5 bull to cow ratio? Year 1 = 2017 = existing herd sires in with existing cows on a 1 : 40 ratio (350 cows and 50 2016-born heifers to go with 10 bulls in a single grazing / breeding mob) ... bulls pulled out on September 1st and are sold putting the bull to cow...

    A (seemingly) novel idea

In his mind, an enormous amount of time. I'm pretty sure he's not trying to sell bulls (although I think he possibly could if he'd keep some for a second breeding season after parentage testing the previous year's calf crop). I believe he has the ear of a few commercial food companies that...
