    Fencing With A Tractor

Well I like your ideas but what I do with barb wire is drive a heavy steel bar thru the center of an old broken disc blade turned concave down. Then I just either walk off the wire or on long stretches use the drawback on the tractor. Works fine and is free.

Pond grass is out of control. Does anyone have any ideas?

Highgrit,if you are in a hurry maybe after you sprayed you could use a wind driven or solar pump to aerate the pond and infuse oxygen. It may keep some of the fish alive.

    cubic feet for hay

20-25# / day / steer x 180 days =7200#/steer to 9000#/steer that is on roughage only and no concentrated feed That would be 4 to 5 1800# large round bales(6') diameter or roughly 120-150 small square bales at 60# for each steer. Each large bale is 141 cubic ft and each small square would be...

Getting stains off a white cow!

I wonder if peroxide would have any effect? It shouldn't cause any injury and may whiten the area.

    Block corner repair ?

I would recommend fiber bond or some such additive. I used it to add to the premix cement I used to cover the foam walls of my basement and it is still good after 10 years. It adds a polymer for additional holding strength. I think I got it a Lowes or Home Depot. I comes in 16 or 32 OZ...

    Fencing Hurdle

I think the singing tin gap would be best. Also I would use the H braces on both sides of the crick and have the gap fixed independent so if there is a flooding rain and it does wash out, hopefully only the gap is disturbed and not the rest of your fence.

    Pit odor

When I saw the title of the thread I immediately thought of hog pit odor not arm pit odor. It is getting warm enough now that some of the hog pits are really stinking so I thought of that first. Go figure.

When you cover the trough with plywood could you glue foam board underneath also? and Maybe when you cut the nose holes go to a dollar store and get a 10-12" play ball and float that in the hole small enough that the cows can push it down to get the water the it pops back up when they are...

    Galvanized water tank

I'd recommend getting a new one. On that one just take the bottom out the rest of the way fill it with dirt and plant strawberries or whatever erlse you like. It will make a dandy raised garden bed.

    Firestarter- Amazing Results

That looks interesting but DNR in our state looks unfriendly upon burning stryrofoam. BTW it sure is a lot drier in your area than here. We still have 12-15" of snow on the ground.

    Nose Rings for bulls

pdfangus--Good post I agree. If a bull is that good to have but ornery collect him and ship him no need to risk safety. And remember his disposition is a highly heriitable trait.

Ideas on building a beam coffee table

Jo I like your idea of the beam as legs. You could cut the legs all the same length then do a half lap joint on the upper end so the weight of the table is setting on the legs and then on the bottom you could find some adjustable ends that would screw up and down to allow for fine tuning the...

    Creep Grazing Question

Jo- I found out last summer that the regular insulated leather gloves I use in the winter worked well for working with the electric fence. You probably don't have them laying around as I do because I really need them for the cold in the winter. As a side note instead of fastening the end of the...

    Feeder Lids?

I don't know if any would be available in your area or not but here in Iowa usually you can find old worn out hog feeders and the galvanized lids are still good. You could modify one of those lids to the dimensions you need and it would have the cone top to repel rain. Just a way out thought.

    electric fence tape

The electric tape I used was yellow nylon with real thin wires woven in it. It is easy to move if you are going to move it a lot. It also turns cattle well. But it is more expensive than wire. I used it on when I was doing a lot of real intensive pasture rotation. Now I have permanent paddocks...

    Automatic Water Fill...Seeking Simple-Reliable Method

Texas Papaw-- You are right about that cheap hose. The days here get hot but not as hot continuosly as you have and I usually have many head on one tank so that the water flowing helps cool the hose. I guess I did not consider about the hose breaking. Thanks for mentioning that, JLP

    Automatic Water Fill...Seeking Simple-Reliable Method

Is this as a permanent installation or a temporary situation? For temporary just use a garden hose and a float that attaches to the side of the tank. For a permanent installation it can get more involved.
