    stockpiled fescue pasture

Better watch out or they'll get as fat as duns pigs on that worthless fescue. When did you top dress? Do you feel you get a bigger bang for the buck fertilizing your fall growth as opposed to spring?

    Tarps?

Will a twelve footer cover 3 bales? These are 20 x 50's and they only hang over the bottom bales by about 2'. What I cover with these next year will be 4x5's. This hay was covered for 6-7 months with just a lumber wrap. Show me 20-30% waste. Maybe 10% maybe. front side back side

Have you checked with your local machine shop? What does a Blackwelder Burrow building machine do? Is it a trencher that leaves your bait in the ground? If so maybe a Ditch Witch part could be adapted?

    Rake Question

Sometimes, if I really like an older piece of equipment, I find a "parts" piece. Most bar rakes that fall into that category could be had for less than the cost of those 2 bearings.

    Rake Question

Looking at wheel rakes you need to consider the lay of the land. In this area, the ones that don't have independent travel wheels leave hay in low spots. Massey used to make a 3-pt 4 wheel rake that could be flipped over to tedder. But if you weren't careful driving the windows would be crooked.

Feeding small square hay vs. round hay

If you have the time squares are the way to accomplish what you want reducing waste. I've fed up to 20 with small squares and it keeps you hoppin. It makes for calmer cows and you get a chance to see them up close every day.

  I wondered if anyone else saw a portion of an old hay ring as the "cradle" part. Alot of the auctions I attend the ones with a bent section go for $5 or less. Cheap considering the cost of metal now.
