    Grazing Pastures with Johnson Grass

Everything out here has been drought stressed since June. No fertilizer or rain. I was actually just waiting to pull them if we were to get a rain. Grass was mature, mixed in with klein grass. The draw had about a 30ft strip that was green and growing. That is where they were piled up at. Moved...

    Grazing Pastures with Johnson Grass

Ive never had an issue with JG until this year. Lost 14 cows in early August. Had just moved cows from a JG field to another but the new field had a draw running through it that I assume had enough moisture down there it to keep it growing. Kind of a transition area. Tests came back and that...

    What's my next move?

I wouldn't run the harrow over it. A good rain will cover it enough.

    Grass Stockpile Experts ?

I'll have pastures that may not get grazed for 12-16 months so my whole operation is mostly stockpile. I don't feed much hay unless its iced over for a few days.

    Grubbing mesquites

Rent an excavator with a grubbing blade. Heck you could have the whole thing done in a weeks time. Don't listen to people on shearing them. NRCS finds out you're doing that and not getting the root ball you ain't getting paid. What kind of seed mix are you going back with?

    Anyone have Drought Insurance (PRF)??

Is Florida typically dry, or have several month dry spells yearly? I'm looking into it myself, however west central Texas weather has a mind of its own.

    string wing

The p+d will take out your clover when it rains. That shouldn't even be an option if you are needing to wick something.

    Winter spraying cedar..BIRDDOG

If its as thick as you say it is, a summer burn with enough wind should take care of them. I've never sprayed a dense stand but the tordon and some remedy will take care of the singles I spray. If you can get ahold of an excavator, you could probably get 6-8 acres cleared in a day and then burn...

    Spraying after mowing?

Try to find out the specifics. Need a name on the vine, or just post a picture and maybe someone can tell you what it is.

    Clay Pigeon Poison ?

Ive heard of people breaking clays and soaking in diesel to kill pigs. I don't think a cow is going to touch them.

    New Haygrazer Molding?

Never seen that in my bales. Could it have been baled a little wet maybe?
