If you are paying for the lease (land) buying the seed and fertilizer. Depending on hay prices it might be cheaper to pay someone a set price to seed the fields and apply the fertilizer. Then pay or do a 50/50 split for cutting and baling. Call the feed store, get some names of people that do...

Is it his land? How much is the land lease? Any idea of how many bales would be produced? Round bales? Square Bales? What kind of grass?

If that hay was in Texas, people would be fighting over it. I man pulled up at the sale barn last week with a load of hay and was attacked by buyers, bidding broke out before the guy even got out of the truck. It's going to be a long winter in Texas. I figure people will be stealing hay right...

I wish I could get 6 steers on 10 acres of land! It depends on the land, rainfall, grass...ect..ect.. You will need a pasture management plan.

I wouldn't worry about it, I have some cattle on a piece of property that has a large rocky hill. I can't walk on it.... but the cows are always over there, up and down the hill, up and down the hill, drives me crazy. I think they do it just to make me mad.

Kudzu is great forage. A Kudzu vine can grow 3 feet in one day. Leave it alone for a month you will be shock at what is will cover.
