? about replacing Chains on a NH chain baler

We run an 855 chain baler for years & never worried about the idlers; our dealer suggested having them lathed to a common diameter to take out the ridges but we never bothered. That was a tough machine & put through 20-30,000 bales & still has life left!

    Round Baler.

We've run NH round balers for years and are currently using a BR780A w/ wide pickup.....makes excellent bales but the pickup will plug easier than the standard version.( wide pu is great for baling behind big combines tho!) Have never had any kind of problem with the bale command on over 20,000...

    848 N/H roller problem

Matman; Check the rubbers in the idlers in the tailgate.....could be wore & cutting your bars. Is the chain running in time on both sides?? I've had them jump a link or two. We run tens of thousands bales through an 855 and the only time we broke bars were where they had dents (stones). Check...

    NH baler jumped time

Cert; Lock your endgate up and drop the air pressure to slack your chain; usually you can get enough slack to straigten the chain on the drive roller. The tail gate roller is the tough one as you have the bars to contend with but with help you can sometimes get it back in place. Sometimes you...

    case 2090 tractor question.

George; There's a second solenoid on the 2090 just forward of the starter and mounted inside the frame plate. Check to see if you have power at the transmission safety switch (just ahead of the axle and below the cab....it has a wire leading to the frame solenoid). Our old 2090 eats solenoids...

    Cattle trailer slip-free wooden floor?

Rubber mats are the quick and easy method; cut them to fit and they'll stay put; easy to clean out and provides solid firm footing as well as absorbing some road shock. Rumber floors are nice but are slippier than mats.

    Artic cat

Have a AC 500 4x4 w/ over 10,000 miles- been a good machine, reliable and not too many breakdowns (gets used hard). My main complaint is price of repairs and upkeep- I would guess all makes are much the same as they are all in the recreational machine category!

    Elias Scales

Don't bother; extremely slow and very variable with cattle that jump around (calves or yearlings)!! Get a good set of electronics with a good dampening system .

Have you seen one of these?

We have several Canadian companies building hopperbottom tanks; some with hydraulic unload augers but most use 12volt so can be carried and run by any truck; there are also trailer mounts for ATV use (need battery pack). They work good for grain or pellets and can be used for feeding from just...

    Chain Round baler or belts

We've made tens of thousands bales with chain balers and always made good shaped tight bales.....not quite as pretty as the belt balers but still good. All it takes is a good operator who takes a bit of pride in his work!!!!!!!!!

    Chain Round baler or belts

There's been lots of independent research that shows chain balers don't lose any more leaf than belts; your moisture levels will determine your loss; simply adjust your baling schedule. We've run both NH chain and belt balers; the chains are very forgiving and almost idiot proof and can make a...

    hard core or soft core

Hands down- HARDCORE--Superior to handle (lots of truckers won't even haul soft cores)- better bale shape & density-don 't recquire as much power to form bales- will unroll right to the core not in a pile!!!!

    New Holland 847 Round Baler

We've run NH chain and now belt balers for 25 years now: Your problems may be in short, fragile stuff that breaks up or sometimes in long slippery forages. Pick a higher gear and idle your tractor down as far as possible until the bale core is formed and you should be able to throttle up and go...

    36 or 40 ft gooseneck

R6 - That Kodiak should do the job; far too often we see guys pulling overloaded trailers with trucks that are just too light for the job! It's not only dangerous, it costs lots in repairs and is just asking for a wreck. The serious haulers up here are buying good used heavy trucks that should...
