    Shorthorn bulls

    The bulls look good. We are using CF Trump and Einmoor genetics. A calf over 75 lbs is rare for us.

    Heres a birth weight question

    Body condition and feed have more to do with birthweight than the bull or the cow. For instance if you feed a dry dairy cow like a high producing one you will be doing C-sections. Silage fed beef and grass fed beef will show a big difference also. JMO

    We have a dozen Longhorn and Longhorn corriente cross cows that we put a polled shorthorn bull on and most of the calves are polled.     Crazy Cow

    Had a steer go totally nuts a few years back. I got him into the bull pen and called the butcher. He came out later that day and when he skinned him he had some grubs under his hide. The butcher told me he had seen this before and it drove the cattle nuts.

    Dewormers

    The cows have always had crumbles added to their feed and new calves had shots. I am considering going too lick blocks. What type of dewormers do you use?

    Pics of your herd bull

    If 9 out of 11 calves were still born there are certainly more problems than the bull...............That sounds more like a mineral or feed problem.

    Question about simmentals

    :lol: Best thing to do with Simmentals is trade them in on some Shorthorns :lol: Nieghbor has couple hundred Simmentals and has had a nice herd with few problems. Like all breeds it depends on how you handle them. Good luck.

    We have some longhorn and longhorn x corriente cows. We breed them to a registered Shorthorn bull and 80% of the calves are polled.
