7 month old heifers' keep or sell

The report from Ft Payne stockyard is still from Oct. 24th on line but the top for 600 lb hefiers was 220 a hundred weight. I wonder how they sold yesterday.

7 month old heifers' keep or sell

I have 6 black hefiers. 3 are out of 1/2 horned hereford and red angus cows x Black angus bull and 3 are straight red angus x black angus. I am about to wean them but with as dry as we are right now I am worried about carrying them over. Here is one of the heifers on a 3 year old.

    Another "free" Corriente cow

It's a good way to launder money. Buy cows with cash, get a check like you raised them. I have sold to the pin hookers and I know they either lost or broke even.

    sold 6 steers

The steers were all probably within 25 lbs of each other. There were big swings in what they were paying for calves regardless of size. Bull calves were considerably cheaper than steers. Meanwhile

I can't say I do as well, that why I am asking. The other factor is to separate the heifers' before they cycle. My bull is not a calving ease bull. I am on the fence on selling them with the steers. I have some older cows that still produce but I probably need to sell before they go down hill...

    Meanwhile

I have always sold bull calves unweaned but this year I cut the steers and gave a round of shots because I have been told that the gap between bulls and steers is greater than in years past. I do know the buyers can tell a milk fat calf and will dock it but a weaned calf is leaner and harder and...

    Meanwhile

Looking for opinions. I have 10 steers and 5 heifers that are Feb. and March born. They are pushing 400 to 450lbs. I have plenty of grass and the calves are milk fat for sure. Should I risk keeping them another month and weaning them for a month and sell or sale now? The picture is from 7/9/23

    Another dozen

Sheep and goat only have teeth on the bottom as well. Horses are the hardest on pasture.
